Every year when Christmas 🎄 comes around. I find one particular song a bit disturbing. The song goes like this.
🎶 “Last Christmas. I gave you my heart. And the very next day. You gave it away. This year. To save me from tears. I'm giving it to someone special.” 🎶
The song makes me feel heartbroken even though I never had a bad Christmas experience. How to deal with this annoying song? (╥﹏╥)
I decided to get a bit creative and switch out the lyrics a bit.
🎵 Last Christmas. I worked so hard. And the very next day. I worked some more. This year. To save me from tears. I’m working for someone special. 🎶
It is inspired by the Japanese work culture. Christmas in Japan is different than in Western countries. It a romantic holiday for couples and there is lots of illumination everywhere for couples to enjoy. Most people just keep working. Which feels a bit sad in the eyes of a foreigner, but remember that Christmas in Japan was introduced only recently.
A common joke for Japanese to say is “merry kurushin-masu” (苦しん) It means painful. Japanese love their word puns 笑
The next variation is inspired by my own situation.
🎶 Last Christmas. I worked so hard. And the very next day. I worked some more. This year. To save from tears. Im working from somewhere special. 🎵
The next one is perfect for that special someone.
🎵 Last Christmas. You worked so hard and the very next day. You worked some more. This year. To save you from tears. Im taking you somewhere special. 🎵
